Newsletter issue 15

Here’s some of the content from my newsletter Issue 11 you can enjoy. Here’s the link to the entire newsletter should you want to read it. And you should, you’ve come this far. :)

Not for a lack of content...

I've had my best year ever... in photography. The rest is a bit of S**T show. you know... my kids are fed on skittles, I have gained a few extra pounds, and I have a reminder on my phone that says: "wear pants." Do not worry, I’m joking… kinda.

Yay 2020.

I've been pretty busy and I photographed a lot of different things this year. From personal shoots (sections A. and B.) to headshots AND a wedding in Tennessee. (The subject of a follow-up email).

It's been a great year... which I feel almost guilty about, given the times we live in.

I realized today that it's been 3 months since I updated you, and as the title suggests, it hasn't been for a lack of content.

As much fun as this newsletter is for me to write I have been nervous to write to you all. Not sure why frankly but if I had to venture a guess, I think I am now even more discerning about what to show you. It's a good thing but I miss sharing my work.

One of the best sessions I have ever shot...

Top 3, at least.

To say that I am obsessed with Irving Penn and Stephan Vanfleteren is... well... accurate. Their styles speak to me in a fashion that I don't completely understand but I seem to connect to their art on a visceral level. And what is art if not that. I knew that Roderick was a great model to work with and I wanted to explore unusual poses and angles... Here are 3 of them.

A statement of activism...

Talking politics these days is a bit bonkers. I've lost friends because of it. and it hurts... but sometimes, it's the right thing to do. I am an immigrant... I am also a naturalized citizen... but I am an immigrant first and foremost.

On November 6, I wanted to do something productive instead of watching the elections. I had cast my ballot (my first time as an American) but I wanted to exorcise my feelings and asked a friend I had not seen in a long time if he wanted to come for a personal shoot.

Ferchil is a community activist and a great guy and I wanted to show him my appreciation for his work, so we took some pictures. I wanted to these photos to be a statement without being aggressive.
