Antoine, wedding photojournalist
Bonjour. I'm Antoine. I'm an award winning, published documentary wedding and family photographer with an affinity for editorial portraits. Born and raised in France until I was 19, I have now been living in Southern California for about 20 years now with a sprinkle of Spain and Mexico for added flavoring.
Over the past 10 years as a professional photographer, I have photographed countless weddings and families and have loved every minute of it. No matter the accolades, awards, exhibits, or media appearances and public speaking engagement I have done, being able to do what I love —creating art and recording stories for people— is and has always been been my greatest joy. This work is about generosity, empathy, and love for the couples and families I shoot for.
There are very little things I care more about in my work than the next wedding I am shooting, the next story I get to tell —YOUR STORY. My gift is that I am offering you the luxury of simplicity by recording the real you; because your story, your day is one of a kind and it should be told honestly, authentically… beautifully.
Your wedding isn’t a production. It’s a collection of fleeting, unrepeatable seconds, moods, and memories. It should be photographed as it actually felt. The small, intimate in-between moments, and the wide, overwhelming ones too—held together not by perfection, but by truth and authenticity. That’s what I offer: the simplicity of you.
Documentary Wedding and Family Photography
Born and raised in France, I was obviously very influenced by French Cinéma and the French photographers of the 50s and 60s that helped turn photography into an internationally renowned art form. It went from Truffeau, to Cartier Bresson, Doineaux, etc all Street and Vérité artists. In my 20s, I discovered Hong Kong cinema (a lot thanks to Quentin Tarantino) and their visual style influenced me a lot. Today, my photography heros are Irving Penn, Stephan Vanfleteren, Lynsey Adario, Arnold Newman, and especially Sebastiao Salgado.
That's why my photography style naturally developed from street photography and photojournalism. Both of these types of photography aim to report on life and say something meaningful about it. I see reportage through a lens and I see truth inside a frame. It is raw, it is emotion, it is a story within four corners.
Although not exclusively by far, that's also why I shoot a lot in black in white. The photographers I have admired since I started creating photos gave me a real appreciation for the moody, emotional, and contrasty pictures that black and white frames create. It adds drama and often binds the elements within the frame... all of it helping to create the story.
What comes out from photographing with love and care for the story
Please watchn this video and take a look at the gallery right under this paragraph to get a beautiful examples of what I do as a storyteller.
As a personal project, I took photographs of my daughter over the span of several months as I observed her growing up doing amazing, goofy and mundane things because I wanted to turn routine into art... and frankly because I have the most amazing subject right under my nose. I cared about my subject and I worked hard to serve the story I saw in front of my eyes.
I won my first award thanks to these photos and I want you to have award winning photos hanging in your home.
