Newsletter Issue 27: Photography Workshop

Last-minute workshop announcement

I did not think I would be the photographer to announce workshop dates and such but here we are. I was offered to give a keynote presentation on my work and journey in photography at an association in Orange County and to teach a workshop as well. I know it's very last minute but if you want to learn some stuff and hear me babble on, here's the link to the workshop.

Aaah. Yes. I hear you clamoring for a discount code. Well, you're in luck. As it happens, I do have one to give you. punch in 1light  at checkout and you get $50 off. pppreeeetty nice if you ask me.

The workshop is THIS SATURDAY Sept 10 in Santa Ana. We start at 9am.

Anyways, Here is the link to the workshop.

P.S.: I'll tell you what... it feels pretty incredible to know that people think I'm good enough at what I do that they think I would have something interesting to teach them.

P.P.S: I'm feeling the pressure a bit because I really want all the attendees to have a great time and a great experience where they feel invigorated and ready to be creative with their clients and models.

Exhibiting the Portraits Of My Father series... again

Well, after 2 and a half years of on-and-of trying to make it happen (thank you Amy and Temple), we finally were able to figure this out.

Figure what out? My photos of the father series is hanging in the halls of the Journalism and Media department of SDSU. It's an honor for me because I did my master's degree at SDSU in those same halls of that very department 11 years ago. The difference between now and then is that back then I wanted to be a PR exec and more importantly I had never touched a camera with the intent to make art.

It is WILD to me to think about that factoid. And now, the professors that taught me see my work and the stories I try to tell in their hall, every day. WILD I tell you. I'm obviously thankful and proud of this achievement.

Yes, I'm asking you to head to my TikTok account again to see some videos about that the hanging and how I cut my finger with my tape measurer AND a piece of paper I was scribbling dimensions on.

I know... it's riveting storytelling. Shut up. I'm trying to stay hip, young, and relevant...
No, but really. Here's the link to my TikTok because I can't just plug in the video in the newsletter.
