On second shooting

I second shoot like I first shoot… creativity first, bitches!

I have had this discussion several times with photographers and telling me I’m the lucky one for being the Second Shooter that day. Meh. I don’t particularly subscribe to the theory that the main photographer is bound to take the sure/boring shots that are kind of a given in the industry because that’s what the couple wants. Frankly, I’m not even sure that’s true. These shots kill creativity and don’t always contribute to the story, and unless I’m gravely mistaken, couples just want awesome photos. So, whether I am the second shooter or the main photographer, I shoot like a second shooter… and that… that is a plus!

Hire me. You’re welcome. 😂😂

For example, I like doing detail shots but I usually don’t do set up ring shots… Because I’m muuuuuuch more interested in the people in the wedding than in those shots. BUT, if the rings are on a dresser left there by a groomsman or something like that, I’ll make sure to include them in the story of the day.

It really sounds like I’m hammering on about the same thing but I’m just trying to make a point: My clients hire me because I serve the story.
