weddings... and other major life events
Are you planning a wedding, a birthday, a bar mitzvah, a communion, a family reunion? Let's photograph that story. You should be there to enjoy the day and be fully present for the people you care about. That's why you bring me in. I will be there to record the day and tell the story of your family.
The best part about events is always the people; the ones you hang out with, the connections you make, the family members you haven't seen forever, the newfound friends. That's why I like to focus on photographing people and their relationships at events rather than posing them in a contrived manner.
I work hard to get everybody present, offer different perspectives of the event and to really showcase you and your guests.
Not your average photographer
One thing for sure is that I am not your everyday wedding photographer. I am guessing that if you are on my website, that’s exactly why you are here. I love photographing weddings and am very thankful to have gained accolades from my peers of the industry for my work. The awards that I have won only exist because I love the couples I work with. It makes me take better photos and everybody comes out winning that way.
I consider myself a visual story teller because it is all about the story that unfolds before me. The magic of photography is to be able to instantly freeze and capture the essence of an emotion, of an action… like when the father of the bride sees his daughter as his little girl for the last time. As you can see below, there is a very powerful story within that frame.
For me, Documentary Wedding Photography is all about empathy and love and about being present for the moment. My aim, the day of your wedding, is to create images that not only tell the story of your day, but to also create a tangible reminder of the emotions and feelings of your very special day. My approach and style to wedding photography, is to be totally unobtrusive. I will not dictate or manipulate anything throughout your very special wedding day.
Gone in a heart beat
At first it can appear that documentary wedding photography is just about snapping photos without much care. The photos I take could look more like innocent candid shots but it could not be further from the truth. Telling a true and visually stunning story without manipulating the environment is hard to do and harder to do well. Being there at the right moment, at the right place, from the right angle is something I work hard at. I try to anticipate life so that when things unfold, my camera is already clicking by the time the action happens... Otherwise, that moment is gone in a heart beat.
By photographing your wedding focusing on the story, I create meaningful and true photos that will matter to you forever. I want to create art that resonates with your heart and soul… and these, in my experience, never come from the posed formal photos.
Posing for formal photos
As a Documentary Wedding Photographer, I am at my most creative when free to observe and move around the wedding without interferring with the proceedings, whether it's at the ceremony or the reception. I move a lot as I am always looking for a better angle that will tell the better story and I always try my best to blend into the environment. I try to capture the moments you may never even have noticed happening.
I understand the necessity of formal photography at wedding, and that’s fine, but I try and keep that to a minimum whenever possible. Too much formal photography is always a pain in the neck for the participants and breaks the flow of the day.
I am of the opinion that it is your day to enjoy and you should be able enjoy it with minimum interruptions
Why people come to me
As a documentary wedding photographer I aim to make your wedding photos beautiful but most of all a memory for generations to come. Each and every wedding photograph goes through special post processing and I personally edit every one of the selected (best) shots so that you are presented with at the end. This is all part of my service and how I guarantee my work.
Many people come to me because they appreciate the time and effort I put into the production of my finished images. They often have an appreciation for the black and white film look of photography, and not for over processed bucolic airy boho chic images that you often see these days.
I believe passionately in the photos I create. For me, documentary wedding photography is about the story, the people, love and especially about capturing the moment.
